The Simple Things

The real question is, how early is too early to go to bed on a Sunday night?

Although the sun is still very much up, I'm already about to crawl into bed. I may actually already be in bed...

Caught red handed.
I have nothing hysterical to write about tonight, no big news. Just some simple things that occurred this weekend that made me very happy. and healthier. and even more hilarious.

Saturday morning began with this.

You have no idea how happy this made me.
An OMG pancake from Carrots 'n Cake's Blog. The recipe is simple. I substituted raw oats for the almond meal, and 'thirded' the ingredients because I only wanted one pancake. It blew my mind.

Following the pancake came my mini, made-up/mixed-up triathlon. In other words, I biked over to Andrew's house, we then went for a run... and eventually ended up at the pool where we then swam a few laps. Yes, I realize the order of operations in an ACTUAL triathlon is different (swim bike run) but whatever. It was a hot day, and I had to do something to entertain myself. Because all know what happens when I am left un-entertained.
Am I trying to fly? I don't know.
Next up, I got some Vega One powder for my smoothies/shakes. I tried it out this morning, and it also blew my mind. Apparently a lot of mind blowing went on this weekend.

I seriously loved it, and I never thought I would say that about a protein powder. This is coming from the girl who use to pour her muscle milk recovery drinks down the drain during volleyball preseason three-a-days in college. It also puts my mind at ease knowing every ingredient that's actually in that bottle, versus a shit-ton of ingredients that I can't even begin to pronounce.

Aside from that, most of my weekend resided here.

cutest beach towel ever?

cutest guy ever?
It was really too hot to do much else, and there was no way I was just going to sit inside all weekend. Because we all know what happens when I sit inside all weekend.

yeah.
So, here we are. I just painted my toes with this beautiful color:

And am now icing my foot, and planning out my week. I also need to figure out my training plan for New York in 17 weeks. I'll probably follow a Hal Higdon plan again, but any other suggestions are welcome.

Lastly, I'm incredibly ecstatic because of this:

Can't freaking wait. 85 degrees is music to my ears.

Anyone have any good weekend stories for me? Furthermore, is anyone else as passionate about pancakes as I am?

Cheers to a fantastic week!

  3. No such thing as too early of a bedtime. In fact, sometimes I pretend I am on East Coast time, just so I can get in bed sooner.
