Burrowing

Happy Monday!!

I got my butt out of bed a little early this morning so that I can do a quick check in with my favorite blog readers.

On Friday I had told myself I could do whatever I wanted this weekend. There would be no alarms, no planned workouts, no set expectations.

The dramatic side of me wanted to throw a pity party yesterday morning and not get out of bed, at all. The temperatures have finally starting falling down into the 30's here in good ole' B-more at night, and therefore 3-4 layers of blankets are now necessary to thoroughly burrow like a mole rat in my bed at night.

I spy Karl, my bear from Andrew....
Anywho, I woke up on Sunday morning and thought, "You are suppose to be running a marathon right now," had a short pout fest, and then went back to sleep. While nothing quite beats the feel of achieving 26.2, a nice Sunday snooze was still a treat, and helped me to sleep away some of my blues.

All in all, it was a fairly low key weekend. My roommate Megan and I carved pumpkins on Saturday evening, and while my body may currently hate me, I still carved my runner girl pumpkin with much pride.

Mega's crab pumpkin is a bit more impressive, I know. That girl has so much Maryland pride, some even may be beginning to rub off on me. GASP

That's really all I have it. It was an unplanned, low-key weekend. I got boring things done like finally taking my sweaters out of their boxes and hanging them in the closet. I'm actually a little excited to pull one on today.

I'm also excited for one or two of these

Heading into Monday with fire people. I painted my nails gold last night, so I'm feeling a little frisky. Like Katniss from Hunger Games or something.

Let's make it great.

Congrats to all the runners this weekend, MCM finishers, etc. Gotta support my peeps!

Cheers -

stalking

I've been stalking two websites all weekend. The first is ESPN, like millions of others in this country, to check scores as well as my brackets which are all doing horribly. No hard feelings here; I would rather see some awesome upsets and my brackets crash and burn than games go the way they are suppose to.

My mom just sent me this as I sitting here writing. We all know who Jane is routing for tonight...
The second site is the weather channel. When I saw the forecast for 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow I immediately laughed at the funny joke and dismissed the idea. However, I've checked back several times since then... and the forecast hasn't changed. So there's that.

COME ON SPRING, YOU CAN DO IT!

How was everyone's weekends? Nothing too crazy to report over here. I would say the most important development is that I am starting to like hot yoga. No, I'm not drunk nor did I hit my head this past weekend.

After class on Friday in Baltimore I wondered down by the inner harbor. It was pushing 50 degrees, and I even found a few cherry blossoms blooming!

Following my B-more adventures was a trip to Trader Joes...

They are kind of buried in this pic, but I swear those shaved brussel sprouts have changed my life. Tina over at Carrots 'n Cake posted a bomb recipe using them last week, and I've eaten it three times since then. I'm continuing to evolve the recipe to my own liking, and may even eventually share it some day if i'm feeling generous.

I then wandered over to the liquor store next to TJ's and found this:

New Belgium's new IPA that they released this spring. I'm a big IPA fan and an even bigger New Belgium fan. Unfortunately I can't sit here and rave about this beer; I did enjoy it, it just didn't blow my mind.

Do you guys like my new shirt that I picked up at the Under Armour Brand House?

I figured with my impending move to Baltimore coming in hot, I needed to get some more gear to support the O's and the Ravens. Also I found out on Saturday that the shirt is good luck because I scored a new #plankaday record while working out in it:

Boom.

Ok, I'm headed off for some more madness before an early bedtime. I have a busy week coming up, which is exactly how I like my weeks to be. Not to mention Easter is right around the corner, along with epic amounts of chocolate peanut butter eggs that make me happy and sad at the same time.

Any other brussel sprout/IPA/Under Armour lovers out there? Not all at once.

Cheers!

Plunging & Playing

Man, I could honestly lay down right now and call it a night. I am tiiiirrredddd. To be honest, I probably will once I finish writing this up.

Fun weekend. It was an impromptu total rest weekend - I had planned to run 8 or so miles today, but my body wasn't feeling it so I listened, did some stretches, and officially deemed it a lazy day. Sometimes you just need those, I fully believe that.

The crazy Ravens bus that was at the plunge

I volunteered at the Polar Bear Plunge all day on Saturday with a bunch of my coworkers. In case you didn't know, the PBP raises money for the Special Olympics. It's a great cause, and I'm glad I volunteered (I helped with registration)... but I'll tell you what, I don't think I could do the actual plunging.

As I watched thousands of people charge into the freezing Chesapeake Bay in about 30 degree temps, I honestly wanted to cry imaging the cold. I can push through a lot of different pain and annoyances, but I'll tell you what, when it comes to being cold I'm a B-A-B-Y. I would rather be sweating my butt off than be cold.

Saturday evening involved the Baltimore scene once again, as it was my dear coworker's birthday celebration! Fun was had by all... perhaps too much... but hey who am I to be the judge of that?

me and the birthday girl!

classic 'stach pic
As mentioned, today was lazy, but it was good quality time spend with my main man. We braved the Sunday crowds at Costco, grabbed some smoothies after and enjoyed an early movie on his couch before both nearly falling asleep. And here we are.

I'm excited for this week. I need to hit 'reset' just be proactive in a couple different areas of my life right now. I'm pumped to go hard tomorrow, whatever that may look like. Weather's looking good mid-week... I'm sorry, does that say 64 degrees? Hellooooo running trails.

Cheers to some January warmth!
